In America, from my experience you most likely get it from a Boba place or some Asian restaurants. Or you can make your own by buying the powder from Asian Markets.
In Japan, whenever I had the chance I would buy Milk Tea. They offer cold and hot ones, to learn a little bit more check out Hot Milk Tea/暖かいミルクティー.
The taste between American Milk Tea you buy from the boba places versus the Japanese Milk Tea is different. I noticed that the American Milk Tea is sweeter than the Japanese Milk Tea.
When I buy Milk Tea in America, I can drink with pastries or sweets. While with Japanese Milk Tea, I can eat it with a normal meal, sweets, and as a snack I guess you can say. Since the American Milk Tea is sweeter, you can probably get tired of it; but for me, I feel like I wouldn't get tired of the Japanese Milk Tea since it isn't as sweet.
I love both Milk Tea, but it was just interesting how difference the taste was from one country to another.
ミルクティーの両方が大好きですが、違うの事は私に面白くてと思います。
