Near where I stayed in the Philippines, there was a festival for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. Streets filled with little stores selling various products to clothes, shoes, and electronics for cheap prices. The Market lasts till January 28 because that is the day when they have a huge festival celebration. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper festival if they didn’t have food. To help understand a country's culture, look to see what kind of Street food they sell, also during Festival time~ Here are some of the foods they sell at the festival.

My favorite food from the Street Market was the Quail Egg with sweet & sour sauce and butter. Quail tasted like Shrimp to me. I enjoyed the Quail Eggs by itself without the sauce, but my mom enjoyed all of it.
Next, the Banana fried in caramelized sugar which has the crunchy feel when you bite into it, but the soft chewiness of a sweet banana. There were four pieces of the small banana on a stick. Most of the Street Foods are on sticks to help the customers conveniently eat while on the go.
They have other food that you would see in other countries such as Ice Cream, Corn, and Popcorn. There are people who ride bicycles around the neighborhood selling food such as Ice Cream, Corn, and the Filipino delicacy Balut.
Another thing you can hear being yelled in the streets of the Philippines is Taho. Taho is Tofu in caramelized sugar with sometimes sago (tapioca balls). It is a dish native to the Philippines. Whenever I drink Taho, I always seem to drink the sweet liquid first. The Tofu taste better with the sweet liquid, but after drinking all the sweetness, it just leaves the tofu part.
Another food sold by people from the street in the Philippines is Binatog na mais. My mom said she remembers eating this from her childhood. Binatog na mais are boiled whole kennel corn with shredded coconut with salt or sugar. The sweetness of the coconut mixes well with the saltiness of the kennel corn. It was an interesting taste mixing both sweet and salty.
While I was in a different Market, I was surprise to see Japanese Cakes being sold. In Japanese it is called Imagawayaki(今川焼き) , a dessert made with batter cooked into a circular shape. It traditionally is filled with Anko (Red Bean paste), but lately there has been other flavors. I ordered the Chocolate filling and the cake was so moist and creamy.
For dinner, my cousin bought Squid, Hot dog, and Isaw Bitukang Manok. Isaw Bitukang Manok, in English is Chicken Intestine. I didn't really eat it, but my cousins and Uncle seem to enjoy it.
