'Filipino Snacks' from My Childhood/

While visiting my local Seafood City, I was surrounded by snacks I ate while growing up and decide to make a post about some of them!  You can find these usually in a Filipino Household and my family would bring some of these as Traveling snacks.

Jack 'n Jill Chiz Curls/
Cheesy Chip Puffs.  I'm not sure if this brand is the exact one from when I was growing up, but I remember the taste and smell of eating this while car traveling and next to a poolside.  The shapes look similar to Cheetos' Puff, but not as cheesy as Cheetos.  The flavor almost like Mac & Cheese.

Stik-O Wafer/
It's not the brand that I remember, but it's the colorful Wafer that I loved since my childhood days.  They have several flavors such as Strawberry and Ube (Purple Yam).  My favorite flavor as a kid was the Chocolate flavor.

Clover Chip/
These are a must have Car drive traveling and a normal snack in my household.  I've seen before where you can get mini bags of various flavors.  Clover Chips are chips with flavors such as my family's favorites Ham & Cheese, Extra Cheesy, and Barbecue.  They are shaped in clover or petal shaped almost.

Oishi Prawn Crackers/
I remember my Mom always bring these chips and they were usually her snacks.  My sisters and I would eat them if we see them while traveling.  For some reason, their official website was having problems so I had to look for information at other sources and Oishi was founded in Liwayway, Philippines.  They are sold in other countries such as China.  They claim to use Japanese technology to create the snack, so I can see why they use Oishi since 'Oishii' means 'Delicious' in Japanese.

Pan de sal/
This is a common staple in the Philippines.  Even though the origin story is a bit fuzzy, Pan de sal is loved by many Filipinos.  It's delicious for Breakfast and snack.  While I was visiting the Philippines, my parents would buy fresh baked Pan de sal every morning and we would place Cheese inside the Pan de sel for a delicious breakfast.

While I was younger I believed the snacks I had were all Filipino, but as I got older I found out that some of them are not Filipino.

Ka-ru Chips/
Similar to Jack 'n Jill Chiz Curls.  'Ka-ru' is owned by Meiji, a Japanese Company known for their Chocolate products.  I'm use to eating the Cheese flavor(I notice there's a trend of Cheese flavors hehe~)

Yan-Yan/
One of the biggest shock in my life finding out that Yan-Yan isn't actually made from a Filipino Company.  While researching for my Japanese Project, I found out that Meiji, the same company who owns Ka-ru Chips, owns Yan-Yan.  Yan-Yan has two divisions, one side Biscuit Sticks and the other side with various flavors to dip your Biscuit Stick inside.  The most common flavors I'm use to with are Chocolate and Vanilla.  They have flavors such as Strawberry.  Yan-Yan has been in my life ever since I was a baby.  I saw my younger sisters eat this in their baby days also.

These are just a few Childhood Snacks I found while visiting Seafood City, which is basically a home away from for Filipinos.  It's basically like a Filipino Town, but it's a Grocery store with their own food court which usually consist of Jolliebee, Chow King, and Red Ribbon.  As years pass, my Seafood City added other food stands such as Grill City and Magnolia; but, the Golden Trio is still going on strong.
